Randall McManus, CLP - President.
Randy McManus 

A graduate of Texas A & M University, Randy began landscape maintenance work as a crewleader for The Greenery, a local nursery & landscape company, while a student at A & M. He began similar work in the Portland area shortly after completing Forestry studies in 1979. Three years at Northwest Landscape Industries (then Oregon Landscape Maintenance, now Trugreen Landcare) were followed by twelve years as manager of landscape maintenance operations at Drake's 7 Dees. Randy has been a licensed pesticide applicator in Oregon since 1980. He has served the Oregon Landscape Contractors Assn. (OLCA) as a testing judge for its Certified Landscape Technician (CLT) test, & as co-chair of the OLCA Task Force for the Oregon Garden. He is an active supporter & past board member of the Oregon Chapter of Community Associations Institute, & in 1999 he became a Certified Landscape Professional (CLP) through the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET). Randy & his wife, Lynn, are the parents of a daughter & son who are both currently enrolled at Oregon State University.

 

Matt Triplett, Landscape Construction Professional, CLP, CLT, CLIA - Vice President.
Matt Triplett 

After attending Oregon State University, Matt also went to work for Northwest Landscape Industries prior to joining Randy at Drake's 7 Dees in 1991. Matt became a Certified Landscape Technician in 1993 & obtained an “all phases” landscape contractor’s license in ‘97. He served in 2001 as Chair for the OLCA Certification Committee & in ’02 & again in ‘06 as Chair for the International Landscape Technician Council, which is the program's governing body for PLANET. Also for OLCA, Matt has served as a Director, Treasurer, and in ’03 as President. In 2000, Matt became a Certified Landscape Professional. He added yet another certification to his credit in 2001 by becoming a Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA) through the Irrigation Association's certification program. Today, Matt chairs the Oregon Landscape Contractors Board, & has twice served as a member of the Board of Directors for PLANET. Matt has long been a visible representative for the green industry, working with the Regional Water Providers Consortium to address effective water use and conservation with regards to proper landscaping practices. Matt is the proud father of three daughters.

 

Gayle Hite - Office Manager.
Gayle Hite 

Gayle studied Liberal Arts & Occupational Health at Oregon State University, followed by top honors graduation as a Certified Expanded Functions Dental Assistant from Linn Benton Community College. In 2002, she ended her ten-year career in dentistry to begin working as Office Manager for a local Fire District. There, Gayle obtained the bookkeeping and human resource experience that has enabled her to efficiently manage our business office since November 2003. Gayle is the proud mother of a daughter and a son.

 

Dan Herzing, CLT, CLP, CLIA - Area Manager.

Prior to joining the WLS team, Dan was a Production Supervisor with Mariani Landscape, a Chicago area company focused on high-quality residential landscaping. He is a graduate of Illinois State University with a BA in Biology and Secondary Education. In addition, Dan earned an AA degree in Landscape Design & Horticulture. He is a licensed pesticide operator & has achieved CLP, CLT & CLIA certifications. Dan married Leah, moved to Portland and joined us in September 2004!

 

Glenn Fritts, Landscape Construction Professional - Area Manager.
Glenn Fritts 

Glenn graduated from Oregon State University with a B.S. in Ag. Economics, with minors in Business & Horticulture. Prior to joining us in 2007, Glenn, a licensed landscape contractor, owned & operated RB Landscape, Inc. Following the sale of his company to Trugreen Landcare in 2004, Glenn stayed on as Account Manager until becoming part of the WLS team. Glenn & his wife, Tracy have two very active young boys.

 

Greg Beck, CLT - Area Manager.
Greg Beck 

Greg’s education culminated with a B.S. in Environmental Science & Landscape Horticulture from Unity College in Maine. During those college years he received the Environmental Steward Award for 2004. In addition, Greg served as Men’s Intramural Lacrosse Team Captain in ’05 & ’06. Prior to moving to Oregon & joining us in August 2007, Greg attained practical experience working for Hartney Greymont Tree & Lawn Specialists in Needham, MA.

Ignacio Vallines, CLT - Lawn Care Supervisor.
Ignacio Vallines 

Ignacio recently completed his fourteenth year (!) as our most celebrated production leader. Achieving his CLT designation in 2000, Ignacio is instrumental in employee hiring and training. His responsibilities are focused mainly on seeing that our customers receive the highest quality lawn care possible. Ignacio serves as our primary English/Spanish language interpreter. He also possesses an Oregon Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License & can count over seventeen years of experience in the nursery & landscape trades.

 

Steve Craig, CLT, CLIA - Irrigation and Drainage Specialist.
Steve Craig 

Steve began working in the landscape trade in 1988 in Tucson, AZ, prior to moving to Oregon & joining us in 1996. Steve is one of the best irrigation problem-solvers in the business, as you will soon discover if you ever get to watch him work! When not irrigating, Steve can be found on the water, pursuing trophy steelhead & salmon. Steve & his wife Michelle are the proud parents of two outdoors-oriented sons.

 
Jesse Stegman, Landscape Construction Professional, CLT, CLIA - Irrigation and Drainage Manager.
Jesse Stegman 

Jesse joined us in June 2003 & soon began mastering irrigation technology. Today Jesse is not only a Certified Irrigation Technician as well as a Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor, but he has also added the title of Licensed Oregon Landscape Contractor to his credentials. He is a major contributor to both the company, as our Safety Chair, & the industry, as the Irrigation Chair of OLCA’s Certification Committee. As a life-long Oregonian, sports fan & outdoorsman, Jesse is an accomplished fisherman and just plain ole good company!
