ET Managers
One of the newer water saving technologies that is really catching on, & is even being mandated in California & drier states in the Southwest, is the “smart controller” or “ET Manager”. ET Managers rely on signals that supply hourly weather data to the irrigation system so that watering only occurs when conditions dictate. The program factors such variables as evaporation & transpiration (ET), wind speed, soil type, solar exposure, root depth, etc. The best human judgment, even if applied on a daily basis, could not compete with all of that data compiled every hour of the day during the watering season. The ET Manager represents a great leap forward in water conservation. We have frequently seen 15 - 25% water savings with an investment payback of just 2-5 years!
