Even in brand new irrigation systems, it is likely that there are performance issues due to improper zoning or poor design in general.  There are many times, for example, that irrigation systems have: sprinklers that are blocked by plants; sprinkler heads that are improperly spaced, such as 15’ spray heads watering a 4’ lawn; or mixed zoning (sun / shade, turf / beds, etc.).  Redesigning your landscape irrigation will help improve coverage & lead to less water usage!  Sometimes older systems have areas that are abandoned or sprinklers are completely buried or blocked by plants requiring a re-designed system that will water as  efficiently as possible.
